Expand the sonic range of your electric bass guitar, with the Darkglass Tone Capsule bass preamp system. Instead of a typical bass/mid/treble EQ configuration, the Tone Capsule system offers bass/mid/high-mid tone shaping, each with a +/-12dB range. The bass control is centered at 70Hz for low-end power, while the mid control centers at 500Hz for midrange growl and punch. The high-mid control is centered at 2.8kHz, allowing you to enhance presence and articulation without adding noise or unwanted highs.
Darkglass Tone Capsule Bass Preamp System Features at a Glance:
I was expecting good things from this as a Darkglass fan, but I was blown away by how excellent this preamp is. The EQ points are really well chosen - I was sceptical at first with the two mid range points but they have exceptional utility. The bass gives big heft as you’d expect but the low mid (500Hz) gets rid of honkiness in the classic Darkglass fashion, and the high mid accentuates grit and attack. I have not missed a treble control at all. I have this installed in a Stingray Special 5 and the preamp is significantly clearer and open compared to stock. I’d been fighting the tone of it for some time and the Tone Capsule let the natural tone shine through. Also, with three screw terminals no soldering of the preamp is required so install is painless. Finally, shout out to Troy with the supremely quick shipping and top service as per usual.
Installed on my passive Rockbass Streamer Std 4 and it really took my bass to the next level without having to spend several thousand on a Warwick German made. Having Bass, High Mid and Low Mid, instead of traditional Bass Mid Treble allows you to offer up some excellent usable tones.
