Telefunken set the standard for tube condenser microphones over a half century ago. Now they’re making waves with their solid-state small-diaphragm condenser microphones such as the M60 FET. This M60 FET Master Stereo Set gives you everything you need to accurately capture any source with sonic purity and a gorgeous, clear, and glassy top end. The M60 FET Master Stereo Set includes two identical M60 FET amplifiers (microphone bodies) and matched pairs of TK60 cardioid, TK61 omnidirectional, and TK62 hypercardioid capsules. All the capsules feature 6-micron, 15mm gold-sputtered membranes, and the pairs have been precision measured within a tight ±1dB sensitivity tolerance. Whatever capsule you use, the M60 FET’s ultra-fast transient response delivers exceptional detail, definition, and presence that’s ideally suited to capturing the nuanced complexity of stringed instruments and percussion. TK60 cardioid capsule
If you had to choose only one polar pattern for all the mics in your studio, cardioid would be the one — your go-to for the vast majority of recording and sound-reinforcement tasks. The Telefunken TK60 cardioid capsule offers a quick and accurate transient response and captures a surprisingly robust bottom end for a small-diaphragm capsule. The cardioid pattern and a flat EQ response between 150Hz to 7kHz with an airy peak at 8kHz make the TK60 perfect for applications like drum overheads, hi-hats, and acoustic instruments.
TK61 omnidirectional capsule
The Telefunken TK61 small-diaphragm omni capsule captures a huge, open sound that’s perfect for harnessing the ambience of your recording environment and breathing life into any recording. The TK61’s frequency response is flat from 20Hz to 5kHz and has a presence peak at 8kHz. There are any number of creative uses for omnidirectional capsules in the studio. Use a pair of them as overheads for a larger-than-life rendition of a drum kit. If you’re blessed with a good-sounding room, back them up to capture more of it — or deploy a pair as dedicated room mics. Capture a choir or chamber orchestra — or even an acoustic guitar — with a pair of omnis. The sky’s the limit.
TK62 hypercardioid capsule
Telefunken’s TK62 small-diaphragm hypercardioid capsule has a flat frequency response from 150Hz to 3kHz, with a dip at 6kHz and, again, a smooth, airy presence peak at 8kHz. The TK62’s tight polar pattern is a lifesaver in challenging scenarios where source isolation with effective off-axis leakage rejection is critical. It’s perfect for use on cymbals, percussion, and as a stereo pair for onstage performance recording.
